Current Work

Since 2010, I am working as a Post-Doctoral Researcher in the Lab of Prof. Alireza Gharabaghi, where we research brain stimulation for the treatment of motor disorders (e.g. Parkinson’s, stroke). My daily work routine is data analysis, paper writing, student supervision and grant applications.  Sometimes i’m still in the lab performing experiments with EEG, BCI, TMS and TCS.

I defended my Dr.rer.nat in March 2017, and my Dr. rer.soc. in July 2012. Both were received from the University Tübingen.

During my natural scientific doctorate research, I was enrolled in the International Max Plack  Research School / Graduate Training Centre for Neural and Behavioral Sciences and took courses on electronics, linear algebra and neuropsychology. My thesis was based on new ways to improve the instructional efficiency of restorative BCIs, especially regarding cognitive and reinforcement learning.

For my social scientific doctorate period, I was enrolled at the European Graduate School in Addiction Research at Dresden International University (ESADD) and the Research Training Group on Bioethics at the International Centre for Ethics in Sciences and Humanities (IZEW) and took courses on neuroethics, epidemiology and clinical psychology. My social scientific thesis was based on a philosophical analysis of the ethics of addiction treatment and attribution of responsibility for relapse and included questionnaire-based social research on professionals understanding of addiction.

I graduated in 2007 with a Dipl.-Päd., which is equivalent to a Master in Education, from Otto-Friedrich University Bamberg. I took classes on education, sociology, psychology and philosophy.  Intellectually, i put my focus on Frankfurt School critical theory. During my study period, I worked part-time at an inpatient centre for drug addiction rehabiliation.
